But brainstorming sessions, now I’ve got suggestions. First– get rid of the kid with the pencil stuck to her upper lip. Then take a hostage and threaten everyone else and see who comes up with fresh, original ideas “outside the box” quickest. Give prizes (like plastic cups). It may be necessary to lose a few lesser-creative types, but that’ll happen of its own accord. Results are what count.

Had a HUGE brainstorm session with my entire team just TODAY and wish I’d had your “cup” tip as an ice breaker!! One thing I did was make sure people understood no idea was too crazy, too expensive, too anything. We were SUPERGATORS today and there was nothing that could stop us… not the economy, budget, corporate… etc. I think that helped people be more open to what they threw out there. And we had a rule no one could talk about why “that” wouldn’t work or tried it before etc. NO critics. Just ideas. Oh and I didn’t talk… just wrote… I think that helped too :)
