I have recently seen a small local museum in my area recruit some major art gifts because they are able to say “we are small- if you give your work to us, it will actually get hung on the wall and seen by our visitors- we may be small, but your work will do better with us than sitting in the storage facility of a major museum.” Seems to be working for them!

Be who you are and what you are – to the best you can. When entering any relationship, personal or business, the outcome will be the strongest when it is built on honesty and expectations/role definition that is mutually understood.

If you are chosen as a business partner based on being small and scrappy, live that. If you are chosen on proven results, deliver that. But don’t ever be what you are not, it never meets either party’s expectations.
